Saint-Gobain joined the United Nations Global Compact in 2003. Global Compact is an international initiative involving more than 2000 companies, NGO's and civil society organizations around ten universal principles in the areas of human rights, labor rights, the environment and the fight against corruption. Using this international network, the aim is to jointly contribute towards developing a humane and sustainable economy. By joining Global Compact, Saint-Gobain undertakes to integrate the 10 principles in its strategi and operations.
In 2009, Saint-Gobain endorsed two documents related to the Global Compact:
- Caring for climate - to fight against change
- CEO Water mandate - for Water Resource Protection as part of the UN´s Millennium Development Goals
