Multi Comfort

Saint-Gobain first developed the notion of “Multi-Comfort” construction in 2004. It covers a vast program encompassing all aspects contributing to living comfort in residential and tertiary buildings.

Saint-Gobain Multi-Comfort, the proof of our expertise

Saint-Gobain does not build buildings; it equips them with differentiating and high value-added solutions with reference in particular to comfort. In order to demonstrate the effectiveness of its solutions and continue to develop research and innovation, numerous Group businesses have joined forces in the “Multi-Comfort” concept in 13 countries.

In this way, Saint-Gobain is developing a new way of building habitat. It provides a shared frame of reference while respecting each person’s specific needs and anticipating future regulations.

Comfort: a new way of living

This concept is based on the “Multi-Comfort” terms of reference, which focus on five types of comfort while also aiming to minimize environmental impact.

  • Thermal comfort and energy performance: to enjoy a pleasant temperature year-round while minimizing energy consumption.
  • Health comfort: to improve interior air quality.
  • Acoustic comfort: to reduce interior and exterior noise problems.
  • Visual comfort: to benefit from natural lighting for habitat that is pleasant to live in and aesthetically pleasing.
  • Modular comfort and safety: to facilitate accessibility, and to encourage the creation of modular and safe spaces.
  • Economic comfort: longlasteing solutions, that are easy to maintain and energy efficient.

This program makes it possible to satisfy the various needs while sustainably achieving a high level of building energy performance. It shows that high-performance buildings can also be beautiful, comfortable and economical for their occupants.

Comfort and High-Performance for Housing

A working group of experts from several Group businesses defined the technical and construction criteria for Saint-Gobain’s Multi-Comfort program. The building must comply with all aspects of indoor comfort (thermal, acoustic, interior air and visual comfort from natural light), and all performance criteria (energy consumption for heating and air conditioning, natural light indicator and decibels).

Its design must be environmentally friendly and its price reasonable compared with the market. It is essential to measure a Multi-Comfort building’s performance as soon as it is occupied to obtain tangible proof of the benefits of Saint-Gobain’s solutions.

Certification by an independent entity of the building’s performance will attest to its Multi-Comfort character.
