Saint-Gobain & the Green Building Councils (GBC)

At Saint-Gobain, we have built a strong relationship with the Green Building Councils (GBCs) around the world. We are worldwide, one of the bigger, if not the biggest, partner of the Green Building Councils.

We are member of more than 35 countries GBC worldwide and in the Nordic and Baltic region we participate in all seven countries and are board member in Sweden, Finland, Denmark and Latvia.

We are also a partner for the European Network of GBC.

Finally we contribute to World GBC strategy as a member of the Corporate Advisory Board.

Other global collaborations

We believe that more collaboration is needed if we are to achieve a more sustainable world. At Saint-Gobain, partnerships are at the heart of our sustainability engagement.

We are a member of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD), with a particular involvement in WBCSD initiatives relating to climate change, building energy efficiency (BEE), sustainable cities, and the circular economy.

We are one of the members of the Global Alliance for Building and Construction that was launched at COP21.

We are also one of the few companies to be an associate member of the Sustainable Building Alliance, gathering key players in the Green Building certification field, such as BREEAM or DGNB.

We are also involved international campaignssuch as the Renovate Europe campaign.

Local partnerships

Locally, innovative projects emerge and actors unite to work on solutions for the future. At Saint-Gobain Nordic, we are eager to be involved in those forward looking projects

For example we are an active member of the REBUS (Renovating Buildings Sustainably) project in Denmark. This collaborative project is aimed at social housing buildings and targets are to reduce energy consumption in the existing building stock by minimum 50%, achieve reduction in resource usage by 30%, and increase productivity 20% by industrializing building renovations, and at the same time ensure a good and healthy life inside the buildings.

In Denmark, we also participated in the Green Solution House development, as a strategic partner supplying sustainable solutions.
